Said Autism Speaks President Mark Roithmayr on April 2 at the organization’s annual leadership conference in Washington, DC., where nearly 200 staff members and volunteers met earlier this week.
Autism Speaks and NAAR are both advocating for The Combating Autism Act (S.843). Autism Speaks‘ “legislative agenda” is to
“secure increased federal funding for autism research that seeks to determine the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism spectrum disorders.”
Combating autism. Beating “this thing.” Advocating for an agenda to cure autism/”this thing.” Since June of last year I have been blogging daily about our life with Charlie, about the gold and dirt of our life in Autismland together with Charlie. Who would want to be “cured” of something so lovely?

My son Nick has been diagnosed as having Asperger’s and I feel so bad for little Alex Barton. I have read a number of these blog and agree with a number of opinions. My ex- husband used to do an imitation of Dustin Hoffman acting in the movie Rainman in front of my son. What an ignoramous!Nick is a honor roll student and is gentle but he has speech and social issues. One boy hurt him on the school bus but the driver dealt with the issue appropriately.
