Oxygen is being touted as a possible treatment for migraines and cluster headaches, according to researchers. According to this article, Oxygen therapy might ease pain of migraine, cluster headaches, the results of two studies showed that patients who received oxygen therapy had better pain relief than those who had a sham or placebo treatment.

Interesting idea.

This this is worth investigating as I suffer from migraines and would really like to find some relief from them other than popping a pain killer

Jane — that’s an interesting point, since pregnant women often get their first migraines and are prone to anemia! I find myself in this very position right now and it hadn’t occurred to me that the anemia might be an underlying cause of the migraine (my first). I even woke up this morning thinking I should go to the nearby mountain resort where they have oxygen bars and just hang out there for a day. If the migraine stays I’ll likely take a day off work tomorrow and do just that … then report back. :D

re: oxygen helping migraines. I think it makes sense and think it would be interesting to know how many of the people who responded positively were also anemic. I am anemic and am convinced it’s connected to lowering my pain threshold for migraines.

This sounds to me like it could be just another ‘fad’ cure.
There like grapefruit diets for pain!
