Crazy Cool Contest! Help us write a Breaking the Mirror theme song!

cover_to_cover2.jpgYep, you read it right.

We’re going to have acoustic, artistic, wonderful singer/songwriter Julie Moffitt write music for and record a Breaking the Mirror theme song!

But we need YOU to supply the lyrics!

Here’s how this contest works:

From now until next Sunday, June 22, 2008, Monday, June 30, 2008, Friday, July 4, 2008, midnight E.S.T., please leave ONE LYRIC LINE in the comments section.  (Have more than one line racing around your head?  Comment as many times as needed!)

Lyric lines should have something to do with eating disorders, body image, et cetera.  They don’t need to be goopy, poopy positive, but I’m pushing you to come up with some inspirational, motivational stuff.

Next Monday, June 23, 2008, I’ll give all the lines to Julie and she (with help from friends) will decide which line will be used for the TITLE of the Breaking the Mirror theme song.  That contributor will win a free copy of a Julie Moffitt CD chock-full of amazing vocals!

From that point, Julie will take all the lyric suggestions and weave them into an original composition.  She’ll record it and we should have an mp3 file for all to hear by the middle of August!

I’m truly excited by this contest and invite you to submit often.  Remember — only one line per comment, please.

Have at it!

(And thanks, Julie!  Can’t wait to hear what you compose!)

    How about:

“My reflection shows my soul, I’ve achieved my spirit’s goal, worth my weight in solid gold.”

  2. By Erika

“My reflection’s based on that which keeps life flowing inside of me, not the space I occupy.

  3. By Amy Easley

Here’s a line for you. Not terribly original but I think the point is clear. “I am a woman. I do not have to look like a head on a stick.”

  4. By Steph

“The monster inside my soul eats away, forging thoughts day-after-day, from the media and even those around me, turning me into something else – what *they* say I should be”

  5. By Hope

    Here’s mine:

“I’m tired of fighting to be who I think I *should* be; I want to embrace me”

What a seriously cool contest, Angelique!

    Here’s my entry:

“When I looked in the mirror, I finally saw I’d turned my back on me”

The line itself isn’t very inspirational or motivational, but I’m thinking it could be just one line of a song that shows how someone finally became aware of what s/he was doing to his/her body and how s/he started to get help, finally see him/herself as beautiful, etc.

Plus, the whole image of looking in a mirror and seeing your back rather than your front is just cool, haha.

    Again, really unique contest!
