Create Your Own Halloween Graveyard

I have some friends who really get into decorating their yard for Halloween, the scarier the better. They love turning their yard into a Halloween graveyard every year, complete with tombstones and screaming people. Then they have a big graveyard bash on Halloween and invite all their friends to check out their decorations.

Halloween graveyard

It’s totally fun, so I thought I’d put together a list of  ideas to help you set up your own frightful Halloween graveyard decorations.

All of these scary Halloween decorating ideas are things you can do yourself with the right supplies, and a little creativity.

  1. Cardboard is wonderful for making RIP gravestones, and if someone trips over it they won’t cause an injury. Styrofoam and plywood also work well.
  2. Think up humorous epitaphs for your gravestones, here are a few sayings and ideas to get you started.
  3. Lay some spooky skulls, or bones at the base of your tombstones.
  4. Get out the old white bed sheets and hang them from the trees for ghosts floating above the graveyard.
  5. Don’t forget the spooky sounds, find a Halloween sounds cd to set the mood.
  6. Buy some webbing to make giant cobwebs to string between tombstones, trees, rocks, and ghosts.
  7. A fog machine can help set the eerie atmosphere.
  8. Use stuffed leather work gloves, or plastic gloves to look like hands coming out of the ground.
  9. Check out these spooky grave yard ghosts from Martha Stewart.
  10. Kaboose has instructions for a creepy cardboard graveyard.

Use your imagination to make a creepy, spooky, or funny Halloween graveyard in your own back yard.

Thanks for the links as well – they’ll allow me to be creative (at least in my friend’s opinion, lol).
