Popcorn balls don’t just have to be popcorn and syrup. You can add all kinds of fun things to add flavor and color to your popcorn balls, and make them more festive for the fall season.
Popcorn balls have become a staple treat for Halloween, and fall parties.
Popcorn ball recipe:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white Karo syrup
Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a soft ball boil. Use a candy thermometer to determine when the correct temperature has been reached.
Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of butter. Pour hot mixture over a large bowl of popcorn and shape by hand into popcorn balls.

Here are some things you can add to your popcorn balls for a fall, harvest or Halloween party:
- M & M’s
- Heath Bar Bits
- Chocolate, peanut butter, or butterscotch chips
- Crushed cookie pieces
- Crushed candy pieces
- Chopped caramel candies
- Candy corn
- Dried fruit
- Sprinkles
- Decors
Anything else you can think of with a crunchy sweet texture will probably work, and add flavor.
