Easy Holiday Dessert Idea ~ Chocolate Mousse Cups

holiday party dessert chocolate mousse cups

Here’s an easy and quick dessert idea for your New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve parties.

Chocolate Mousse Cups

Here’s how I made it:

1 box of Large Fillo Factory Fillo cups

1 large box of chocolate, or chocolate mint instant pudding (made with 1/2 the amount of milk called for in the box directions)

1 Tablespoon cocoa

1- 8 oz container of whipped topping

Maraschino Cherries

Red and green colored sugar sprinkles

Can of whipped topping

Mix up the chocolate pudding using half of the milk called for on the box. Mix in the cocoa, then carefully fold in the container of whipped topping. Refrigerate the mixture until party time. When you’re ready to serve, fill the fillo cups with the chocolate mousse mixture and top with whipped topping, sprinkles, and a cherry. This makes 6 mousse cups, just double or triple the recipe if you have a larger party.

They’re quick, and easy, and you can make them low calorie and low fat if you use fat free whipped topping, and pudding.

You can also use sheets of fillo dough to make your cups. Just moisten 3-4 sheets of fillo dough with cooking spray and put them into muffin pans to make your cups, then bake for a few minutes until the cups are golden brown.

If you don’t want to make your own appetizers or desserts for your holiday party The Fillo Factory has ready made fillo appetizers and desserts that are pretty delicious. My favorite is their Organic Roasted Vegetables. All of their products are organic and contain no trans fats, so they’re healthy and loaded with flavor.

I love baking with fillo (phyllo) dough. Guests are always so impressed but it’s really very easy to use, especially when you know little tricks like these pre-made cups ;-)

With the holiday season coming up, I will really enjoy doing this kind of recipe. I’ve been longing to do this kind as I have kids and I know that they will really enjoy this kind of food. Our family is very fond of desserts especially after eating a hearty full meal.
