Yesterday, I was redoing the wiring in the vacuum plug. While I was testing it in the socket, I got a serious electric shock from not having taken care to put the rubber cover back on. Aside from feeling a bit buzzed in an unpleasant way, I was ok, but I was really nervous about my son coming near me in case my body was still conducting electricity.
It makes for a good story now, but getting shocked is no joke and it hurt like the dickens! Here are the three main ways an electric current can cause injury.
- Cardiac arrest due to the electrical effect on the heart.
- Muscle, nerve, and tissue destruction from a current passing through the body.
- Thermal burns from contact with the electrical source.
