Fun Couples Wedding Shower Ideas

Couples showers are becoming more and more popular these days. Why should the groom be left out of the fun? Planning a shower that includes both the bride and groom can be fun! I have a few ideas to share with you to help make the process a little easier.
couples-shower Give your couple’s shower a theme. What does the couple enjoy doing together? Are they golf fanatics, do they both love football, NASCAR, a favorite movie, hiking, or cooking? If the happy couple have a common interest it can be a great theme for your shower.

  • Make sure you note on the invitation that this is a couples shower, both men and women are invited, and gifts should be for the happy couple.
  • Play games that encourage everyone to interact and learn more about the couple. Have the couple answer some questions in private before you start the shower, then play “He Said She Said.” Read the questions and answers out loud, then have your guests decide who said it, the future bride or the future groom.
  • You can also ask the guests a series of questions to see how well they know the couple. A couple sample question ideas might be: Where was the bride born? How many brothers or sisters does the groom have? Where did the bride go to school?
  • You can also make up some theme related games for your guests to play.
  • Keep the food simple, with finger foods, appetizers, or pizza.
  • Serve the guest of honor’s favorite cocktails or beverages.
  • Make or buy theme related party favors that will work for both men and women. Golf balls in a small gift box for a golf party, cupcakes or hand dipped chocolates for a cooking party, or a Nerf football with the couple’s name and wedding date written on it for a football party.

Have you ever planned or attended a couples wedding shower? Feel free to share your favorite ideas.

I am having a couples shower In September. We are requesting guests bring a gift card for the couple. I am ordering four small cakes without decoration. We will be pearing couples in groups of 4 and giving them iceing from Publix and a veriaty of decorations. They will decorate their cakes and the bride and groom will judge them. We will also have finger foods and drinks. We are having the party at a friends house who has a beautiful pool area. I’m looking forward to this party.

I went to a couples shower, and one of the games they had to play involved the bride being taken to one side of the room (it was a rather large hall) and blind folded, then given a donut. The groom was placed at the other end of the room and give a carrott. The bride then had to find her way to the groom, and place her donut on his carrott. It was hilarious, especially because the brides father was there and kept getting in her way. They also had the bride and groom reinact the proposal. Another game they did was blindfold the groom, and have a bunch of women of different ages and relations line up and put out their hands. the groom then had to walk along the line feeling all the hands and pick out his bride. He actually got it right!

It was very funny, because there were a lot of ages present and all of the games involved a lot of people.

I am having a couples wedding shower reception and dance for my son and his fiance. They are to be married in a small community and I want to include all our family and close friends in the celebration of their union, the wedding will not be local and our family is huge and all are very close to the groom so I thought this would include those that would not be attending the actual ceremony. Every one I asked to see if this would be OK thought it was a great idea. the party will be on a long weekend so those coming from out of town would have time to travel to and from. I have hosted bridal showers before, but this the the first time I have ever attempted something of this scale. I am getting help and ideas from friends aunts and grandma. Hope it turns out great! I am getting good feedback from people planning to attend. As invites were sent out 3 weeks ago.

This past spring/summer has been full of showers for me and the fall is looking to be the same. This trend of a couple’s shower is definitely on the rise–more than half of the ones I was invited to celebrated both the bride-to-be and groom.

The tips you share are really helpful!

I’ve attended some very fun couples showers. I think just having a big BBQ is a great way to go. One that stands out was a pig roast with all the traditional BBQ fixings – potato salad, baked beans, and deviled eggs. It was a fun party that happened to be a couples shower. There weren’t any games or “traditional” shower activities just food, drinks, presents, and fun!

A great interactive idea for a couples shower or a rehearsal dinner is to do a cooking party. You could even do an Iron-Chef cooking competition and pit the brides friends against the grooms friends. IT is a great way for people to get to know each other in a convivial environment.
