The sunny days of summer in California don’t make staying indoors seem like too much fun. But at some point, you’ve got to come inside and if you do, maybe some simple DNA extraction experiments would be fun, especially if you still have kids around the house with the boredom itches of summer vacation.

Back in 1983, the Human Genome Project hadn’t been launched yet and it was the year Kary Mullis invented PCR (according to the Genome News Network, although other sources point to 1980).
