The link between the iPod and autism is: Old iPod batteries (and cell phone batteries too) are said to be piling up in landfills; the mercury in them is leaking out into the environment and causing autism (see story in today’s Techdirt).
Apple‘s own website notes that iPod batteries are alkaline- and lithium-based and do not contain lead, mercury, or cadmium.
