“Lunchtime Lipo” Investigated by 20/20

syringe shot injectionLast week’s 20/20 did a segment on outpatient fat-removal treatment Lipodissolve, commonly referred to as a “lunchtime lipo” procedure because it’s fairly quick and does not require surgery. Patients receive injections that supposedly dissolve fat, causing it to be excreted from the body. But those who’ve used the treatment told a very different story!

[45-year-old Sheila Yee of Riverbank, Calif.] said she … found a nodule in her stomach the size of a tennis ball and went back to the spa. She said she was stunned by the nurse’s reaction.

“She looks at it and she’s telling me ‘oh my goodness that is so wonderful. All your fat cells have all congregated into one area. If all of our patients were like this, we’d be out of business because you know that fat’s just going. You’re the perfect person for this.’”

Disaster struck a few days later when that mass in her stomach nearly doubled to the size of a grapefruit. She had a life-threatening staph infection that required emergency surgery to remove a mass of dead tissue. Sheila says she could have died. “I contemplated going the next day. I might have died the next day. I might not have lived,” she said. “They don’t realize how serious this is and what they’re doing to people. It’s dangerous.”

Read the whole report and watch a video of the segment.

Not too sure about the sound of this… I had Smart Lipo for my love handles at Nottingham Laser Clinic. Dr Maini who performed the surgery was great! The best bit is, you can actually see results straight awaY! Then you continue to improve over the next couple of months. I’d rather melt the stuff with a laser than leave stuff injected inside me.

[...] There are a number of approaches and techniques for liposuction, and your physician can help you figure out the best one for you. They all involve sucking out fat, but there are a variety of tools and methods available. One new and particularly controversial form of psuedo-liposuction is Lipodissolve, which I have posted about previously. [...]
