Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

Are you smarter than a 5th grader

The kids have been wanting to check out the new show on FOX called “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?” and we finally managed to catch it last night. It was cute. It’s a quiz show hosted by Jeff Foxworthy and is set in a “classroom” of sorts. Contestants pick a 5th grader as their buddy who they can “cheat” off of once if needed to stay in the game.

We actually did pretty good – we knew that transpiration meant that plants give off water vapor – and the contestant at that time seemed to know it, too. He just didn’t have that test taking confidence so he took his winnings to that point and “dropped out of school”.

Do you think you are smarter than a fifth grader? The TV show’s web site has a quiz you can take online. I just took it and got all 7 questions correct – even though I had to have my 5th grader “save” me once. I have found a few other sites that have similar quizzes if you really want to test yourself!

Just watching the show- a contestant answered 2 to how many adj. in “Taylor wanted some hot, sweet cider.”-He was told he was correct-why, when there are 3?

i got them all right just like angie it’nt cool

  12. By Angie

I got all of them right except for the one about Corsica-I don’t ever remember studying about that island!!! That’s just wrong to have questions on there that you couldn’t possibly know the answers to! Especially when you were just in fifth grade a few years ago and you STILL don’t remember ever hearing the name before……. ;P

that was tight…but then it was stupid!! bcuz – like..it kept asking the same questions everytime i lost…ps. i lost alot!! but in the end i won!! =)

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.
    That was a tricky question.

  15. By char

Michelle – at least you have the additional information to justify your answers. I was wondering about the presidency thing too.

  16. By Michelle

I got the one on the presidency and Corsica wrong–but in my defense I can nearly guarantee that even my seventh grader wouldn’t have got those two right. Corsica’s changed hands several times and you have to be a natural-born citizen of the U.S. to become president, so I’m not sure how they came up with 14 years of residency.

    Whatever. Do I sound bitter?
