Bonding with Baby Through Dancing

My baby nephew is now 18-month old and he is a joy to behold. As his godmother, one of the things I do to bond with him when I look after him while his parents go out is to dance with him. It’s such a fun and easy thing to do. Good for your fitness too!

What would you need to bond with your baby through dancing? All you need are:

  • CD player (or iPod or what-have-you)
  • danceable music
  • space to dance in

If you have a big enough space in the living room, best to have a dance around in there.

What would dancing activities do for your baby? It would help with:

  • Coordination and balance
  • Listening skills
  • Motor movement
  • Social interaction

If you don’t have any danceable music, you can always sing to your baby and you can dance around the house. Oh, what a lovely thing to do! This activity I enjoy so much!

Warning: Make sure the floor isn’t too slick, you don’t want your baby to slip and fall! You may want to have him dance barefoot, for better traction.
