Brigit – Celtic goddess of fire; shown with permission from the artist
Artist Birgit (not to be confused with goddess Brigit shown above!) is the talented creator of several pieces of breastfeeding art showcased at her new website www.breastfeeding-art.com. Birgit has created a collection of 12 goddesses drawn from ancient mythological and religious figures. In addition to the gorgeous goddesses, she has several pieces of general breastfeeding art that are both humorous and sassy. The feature I like most, though, is the free downloadable book called “What Babies Eat.” Complete with 15 illustrations, the children’s book covers pregnancy, breastfeeding and pumping, milk donation, toddler nursing and tandem nursing. Birgit is a 29-year-old mother of two children, and I can just see her using “What Babies Eat” to teach her older child about her younger nursling.
In the website’s gift shop, Birgit sells a 13-month calendar with her collection of “Breastfeeding Goddesses” and also offers 8.5×11 prints of each image separately. I’ve never met Birgit and I have no affiliation with her website, nor have I purchased anything from it (yet!) If you do order something and have a good shopping experience, please return here and let us all know in the comments!
