Caregiver related websites

links.jpgI just wanted to share a few caregiver oriented websites that have come my way, recently.

First, Caring.com is a site to watch, even though it’s still in beta. According to Tech Crunch, Caring.com just got 6 million dollars worth of funding to launch a community “dealing with your parent’s healthcare, financial, legal, housing, and life issues written by professionals or other users”. (via Hsien).

Also, you should check out Strength for Caring, an online resource and community for family caregivers. The site is part of The Caregiver Initiative, created by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company, and is divided into six sections: caregiver manual, community, health conditions, daily care, housing, money and insurance.

Finally, the good folks at the Gilbert Guide, a site addressing long term care facilities and services in the United States, are pleased to announce that their content is now free, and, that Gilbertguide.com is new and improved.

My name is Kathy, and I am the primary caregiver for my 79 year old Dad who has Alzheimer’s disease and lives with me in North Carolina.

I am writing a daily blog that shows the lighter side of caring for someone with dementia.

Please pass this link along to anyone you feel would enjoy it.
