GB#08 – Tom’s of Maine Goes 100% Renewable

GB#08 - TomTom’s of Maine, my favorite provider of natural personal care products, has announced that they are now using 100% renewable energy for their manufacturing and fulfillment facility in Sanford, Maine.

Tom’s will be purchasing 1.15 million kWh of renewable energy certificates annually from the Ainsworth Wind Energy Facility in Nebraska to offset the electricity consumed by the 100,000 square foot facility. The move to RE will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.5 million pounds per year or the equivalent of planting 214 acres of trees.

The deal was done in partnership with Constellation NewEnergy and Clean Air-Cool Planet.

Way to go, Tom’s. You folks rock!
