We recently got a wonderful pop-up book for Little A to review and it is one he loved so much I had to ask if we could give one away to a lucky reader. The answer was YES, so stick around to sign up.
"The Whistle on the Train" by Margaret McNamara & Richard Egielski is not only a great story but every page has something fun going on. It is very colorful and it pops right up to them. I remember pop-up books from my childhood and this is nothing like that.
For instance, as you open the book you are greeted by the ticket booth. You’ll see a mom wagging her finger at her two unruly boys, a woman actually waiving (as you open and close the page her hand moves up and down). The entire two pages are fully of activities that you watch throughout the book, every character has a story to tell if you watch them.
The lyrics are something the kiddies will love too:
"The whistle on the train goes Whoo Whoo Whoo!
The wheels on the train go Clackety-clack.
The gates at the crossing go ding ding ding."
The trains pop up in 3D which makes it seem that much closer and your baby will want to look at every person. My son figured out the heads move up and down so he likes moving them. (might want to watch them) But when you look inside the Littleville train station you won’t see a bunch of white space, they actually put detail inside the smallest of pictures.
Special thanks to Hyperion for this great book and giveaway.
