how-to of the day: make a recycled reversible t-shirt totebag – the final totebag and the links

Here are all the links to create your own recycled reversible totebag:

Part one – the t-shirt

Part two - cutting it out

Part three – sewing and construction

And here’s the finished totebag:

And if I want to reverse it – here’s how it looks:

Of course, ironing probably would have been a good idea to…  those little pesky details :-)

I loooove this idea! I too have drawers full of really nice souvenir t-shirts that I never wear. Past the t-shirt age I guess. ;-)

But I still use tote bags – a lot!

I’m betting my friends would love to have some of their souvenir tees made into bags as well. Maybe I can start my Christmas crafting early this year!

    Love your new bag!

I’ve also cut the images off t-shirts and stitched them over unwanted pictures or graphics on pre-made tote bags. Works great!

Chloe this is a wonderful idea. Do you think you could do a similar tutorial on making t-shirts into a quilt. I’ve been saving my children’s t-shirts over the years in hopes of making them a quilt, but I don’t know the best way of going about it. Backing them with a sturdier unstretchy cotton like you did on the tote is definitely a starting point.

That’s what I thought when I designed this project :-) I’ve got t-shirts that I just don’t wear – but don’t want to part with!

What a great use for old tees that you just can’t bear to throw out! Thanks, Chloe!

This would be great for those souvenir t shirts, you don’t want to wear anymore.
