Ohio Woman Gets Wrong Embryo

Imagine going through almost all the stages of a pregnancy, finding out you are going to have a baby boy and then you get the horrible news that you can’t bring him home. Why not, you ask?

An Ohio woman got the wrong embroyo implanted in her and now must give the baby up her little boy to the biological parents once he is born.

Carolyn Savage, age 40, recently found out that the baby she had finally got pregnant with was not actually her baby, but a mix up. Her husband, Sean, said it was the worst news of their life. They had to quickly make a decision in regards to the little life growing inside of her, either terminate the pregnancy or give the baby back to the biological parents. Keep in mind this was never the fault of Carolyn or Sean, they had only got pregnant.

‘I have bad news’
Sean remembers being told in a phone call at work. Stunned, he went home to tell Carolyn.

“I was upstairs in my bedroom and he came to the door and said, ‘I have really bad news,’ ” she recalled. Then came the news: “You’re pregnant, but they transferred the wrong embryo.”

Carolyn remembers saying, “You’re joking, you’re joking, you’re joking.” But when she looked at her husband, she knew it was true. “He was white as a sheet,” Carolyn said.

The pregnancy has been without complication, but it’s been anything but easy.

“It’s been hard,” Carolyn told Vieira. “We’ve been rooting for the baby the whole time. We moved from a position of shock to a realization that this was actually going to happen. We needed to put the needs of the pregnancy and the child first. It’s just been difficult, but we feel we made the right decisions on how to handle it.”

My heart goes out to Carolyn and Sean, I’m sure saying goodbye to the little boy will be the hardest thing they will ever have to do.
