There’s a rumor that it may actually snow sometime soon ’round here, and it couldn’t come quickly enough! We had a few flurries the other day, and my 3 year old spent the whole day saying, “Mom! Can we go out and build a snowman, yet? I want to build a snowman! Mom! Now? Can we go? Can we go, Mom?!?”
When we finally do get to go outside amidst the wondrous precipitation, we’ll be able to use the “make a snowman kit” that the kids received for Christmas. It’s not quite as elaborate as the one pictured above, but I do seem to remember a scarf and a few other things included.
What do you think about kits like this? Do you think they take all the fun out of searching the house for a hat, scarf, twigs, etc. with which to create a snowman? I remember making one with my daughter and it was so fun to see what different kinds of plants and such we could find in my aunt’s yard. Pinecones and berries were objects I’d never used to compose Frosty before, but they made him look fun and unique!
Anyway, it won’t matter if we don’t get any snow this winter! C’mon snow!

Lisa: Thanks for commenting. :) I like the creativity in finding things for the snowman, but the kit would be nice if it was super cold and you wanted to get in and out in a hurry.
I used to like searching for things in the yard to use as eyes, arms, and a mouth. The hat and scarf are a good idea though. The kit is a really good idea if you don’t have a lot of stuff lying around.

Antonella: Thanks for commenting! The quilled (is that a correct term?) snowman is so pretty. Thanks for sharing!
Local Girl: It is kinda cute, huh? I hope to get to use ours soon! :)
If we had snow here, I’d use that kit! Great idea.
Thanks for sharing this with the Carnival of Family Life.
Very cute idea – my poor son can’t wait for snow :-) If you want another idea for a snowman, how about making one out of paper? Here is a link to a snowman I made using a technique called Quilling, or Paper Filigree. Enjoy! Antonella :-) http://quilling.blogspot.com/2006/12/on-seventh-day-of-quilling-heartthrob.html
