Solar Christmas Farm

Can you smell Christmas? It is just around the corner and it sure is arriving fast. We may still be a few weeks off before the holiday arrives but everybody’s high on the Yuletide cheer. And we’re all expecting gifts, aren’t we?For this Christmas tree farm though, their gift has already arrived. This farm belongs to Bruce Nichols and he has just put in a solar power system which will bring him 10 kW. That is a good amount of power, right?

Now the power that would be generated by the solar project would give light to his farm which is around 300 acres. He says that the power would help lessen the figures on his electric bill. He also hopes that he may be able to give back to the grid excess power that his farm may not use.

Cecil Chris is an employee at Choptank Electric Cooperative and she explains, “It’s sort of like using the grid as a bank. The few hours he generates more will be put into the grid.”
