I was looking at Wal-Mart’s sale flyer and saw they have the T.M.X. Elmo for $34.88. I’ve noticed the toy costs more from some other places. This is a one time offer from Wal-Mart. The sale is October 1-7. Now’s your chance to get it cheaper. Shop now for Christmas!

[...] About a month ago I wrote a post on the TMX Elmo. I don’t keep up with the latest toys, but I had heard that the TMX Elmo was this year’s hot item. I checked with Wal-Mart and asked when the toy was being released. The lady gave me the date of October 1st. I remember that it was going to be released on a Sunday morning. I actually thought about going to Wal-Mart at like 5 a.m. and getting one just to resell. Obviously, I had no clue how popular they really were. [...]
I don’t get dolls or stuffed animals either but Tickle Me Elmo is a laugh riot. You can’t help but have a chuckle when you hear that crazy laugh.
Yesterday, I brought out one of our old Tickle Me Elmos for one of the kids who was over. He’s about 18 months and he loved it. Even the four year olds had a bit of a giggle.
While I was at Wal-Mart tonight I asked about the new Elmo toy. She said they would come out Sunday morning. I thought about picking some up (if possible), but only for the sake of reselling them. I don’t have a use for one and don’t see why people get so intense about toys. I remember the craze over Furbies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, and others. I remember seeing Whoopie Goldberg on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” one day. Rosie gave her a Tickle Me Elmo doll and I think Whoppie gave her like $10,000 for Rosie’s charity. I can’t get over the fuss.
You would be dead tired looking for those at ANY store (wally’s, target, etc) Those things are the latest fad.
LOL. Good point, Mike. Wal-mart.com is sold out.
Shop now for Christmas is right. Get one of those for that price and you’ll be able to pay for Christmas by selling it on eBay.
T.M.X. Elmo
The new T.M.X. Elmo, scheduled to arrive on September 19th, is shrouded in mystery. The most I’ve been able to gather is that the “T. M.” refers to his “Tickle Me” fame, and the X (as Roman numeral) stands for the 10th year since the Tickle Me Elmo craze of Christmas 1996. No features of the new toy are being released until the toy actually hits the store shelves. But you can see the countdown of his release (days, hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds) at Fisher-Price.
Can you believe 10 years have already passed since that madness? I remember driving along seeing handmade signs posted in people’s cars naming how many Tickle Me Elmos they had, and for how much money they would have been willing to part with them. People probably made a ton preying off the guilt of appeasing parents.
Apparently, thousands of parents are trying to avoid crying, whining kids in their homes this time around and have already placed their orders for T.M.X. Elmo through K.B. Toys at $39.99 per toy. I don’t know, that seems a lot to pay for a toy without any clue as to what it does. Makes me glad my oldest is too old for this toy, and that my boys aren’t aware enough of this stuff to care.
What do you think? Would you pay that much for a toy with unknown attributes? What do you think will be so special about this new Elmo?

[...] My almost 3 year old son is watching with me, and is CRACKING UP. “Mom, Elmo is so funny!!!! Look at Elmo, Mom! He’s falling like this, Mom!” And then he proceeds to imitate Elmo’s every ticklish move. He, apparently, loves it. Lucky for me, he thinks he’s just watching Elmo on TV just like every other day, and doesn’t realize that this is a new toy that he could possess! [...]
