Vote green for the planet

There are plenty of ways to vote green and while not all of them involve a ballot, it’s good to know how to find information about the green issues affecting politics and laws. To cast your vote for the planet, do the following…

vote green for the planet

  • Take advantage of green tax cuts already in place. There are all sorts of tax credits for home energy efficiency changes you may make. Don’t let these credits and cuts slide. They save you money, and tell the government how important these green changes are to consumers.
  • Spend your hard earned money on green goods. Learn about greenwashing. Learn about choosing green products. Let your money cast a vote. How you spend your money does make a difference.
  • Contact your local town hall about setting up an eco-commission specific to your area that can advise local legislators about green topics and promote these issues to city dwellers.
  • Contact elected officials and let them know that you want more focus on green issues.

Learn about current issues in green politics and eco-laws by visiting the following sites…

The Green Party – even if you don’t want to vote for the Green Party, their website still offers some valuable information about the green issues popping up that affect you, your family, and your community.

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) – Their mission is to turn eco-values into national priorities. They advocate for sound environmental policies and support pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. The LCV maintains a National Environmental Scorecard and Presidential Report Card that’s available to the public so that the public can learn about the most pressing environmental legislation and find out how reps are voting. The LCV offers much, much more education about eco-topics at their website, and you’ll learn a lot by visiting.

On the Issue – Find out what local and national candidates stand for and what they’re voting for and supporting.

Project Vote Smart – Their tag-line is “the voter’s self defense system” and they carry out that tag-line by offering smart and timely news about politics and candidates. This is a highly recommended site (many time over) for gaining insight into voting issues.
