Book Review: Crazy About Jewelry

51yrknkfkol_aa240_.jpg

Crazy About Jewelry! The Expert Guide for Buying, Selling and Caring for Your Jewelry is your guide to all aspects of collecting, organizing, caring for, and even recreating your jewelry collection. This is not a book about designing and making jewelry techniques; rather it is a very complete and fun to read guide for the buyer and collector. Susan Eisen writes about:

  • Ten common jewelry buying mistakes
  • What to do with Grandma’s wedding ring
  • Getting your significant other to get you a gift that you love
  • Tips on cleaning, storing, and taking care of your collection
  • How to make your jewelry more comfortable
  • Tips for mixing and matching jewelry styles

There are several sections of the book that were really helpful to me. The first was the chapter on organizing your collection, where Susan takes you through the steps to determine what organizing style will work best for you. I also really liked the chapters on unusual ways to wear your jewelry and ways to redesign what you’ve got. Susan also has an online club for people who are “Crazy About Jewelry.” Altogether, I think this book is worthwhile, especially for those of us who amass huge quantities of jewelry as well as make it!

After a dozen years as a practicing psychiatrist I want to branch out and find my “inner artist.” I play with clay (polymer) and would love to begin a jewelry business… “DrMom’s Clay Therapy.” Don’t you want to be a part of that???

I am just starting out in making jewellery. I find it very rewarding adn it gives me stress relief, when I make different pieces. I always have had a love in different jewellery, especially costume jewellery. I would love to win a copy of this book as it would help me tremendously on different aspects of collecting, owning and making of jewellery.

My husband, who in all other ways is a wonderful person, gave me space bags for Christmas a couple years ago (you know those bags that let you compress stuff down to make more space in your closet). I need this book, if only for the “Getting your significant other to get you a gift that you love” section. Seriously, it looks like an interesting, unusual read. Thanks!

I have lots of gemstones and loose jewelry. I would love to learn more on making and taking care of gold and silver jewelry. Your book sounds like a wealth of information. Thank you.

Oh I would certainly be able to use this book! I have a mass quantity of jewelry I need to organize and clean and this book would be able to tell me how. And then I would be able to wear it all again…If I won this I would be the happiest person alive….:)

I there..I just found your site. The book looks great! I only need to find the time to read it, – because of my lack of organization and large volume of beads and findings….it takes me so long to get through everything. The shot of the work table on your site seems quite organized compared to mine, which is slowly turning to clutter around the entire house! Help! Can’t seem to get a handle on the organization part of this. Thanks. Melanie

    Hi Cyndi,

I would love this book! I am a bibliophile, I just can’t get enough! I am very interested in what to do with grandma’s diamond, and the 10 comom jewelry mistakes I could probably use.
    Thanks!

OHHHHH!!! I so need to figure out what to do with my jewellery! I want to be able to figure out how to organize, detangle, clean and find my earrings, rings, bracelets and bangles. I want to thank you for a great draw!
    Cheers, Denise

I would love to win the book, because there is still so much I need to learn to improve my Etsy shop. I hope one day to be able to make a decent living off of what I love to do and that’s crafting!

I really need this book. I have a bunch of jewelry that was my mother’s and I don’t know what to do with most of it. I don’t even know the best way to clean it.

    Thanks for the giveaway.
