September Contest- Win a one of a kind doll by Noreen Crone-Findlay

The September hankeringforyarn contest is over……

The doll was won by Wendy Penner.  Congratulations, Wendy!

I had to laugh…. Wendy won, I think, by sheer persistence! She entered ~a lot~ of times – and it worked! LOL!

What was the prize?

A one of a kind art doll that I designed for my book:

‘Creative Crocheted dolls’

sept-07-contest-doll-qs.jpg

Her hair, face, hands, feet and wings are painted watercolor paper. I spun the yarn for her body. Her joints are vintage buttons. She still has the code number tag that I attached to her back for the photo session for the book.

She doesn’t have a name yet. That’s up to Wendy…..

hugs all round,

Noreen

I first saw the creative crocheted dolls book at the library and checked it out. I fell in love with it and didnt want to give it back. I priced the book online and it was out of my budget.:-(

Last month I was at Half Price Books & More and found one almost new for $3.00. I was in heaven. What a find.

So now I am the proud owner of this book and it still inspires me to crochet creative dolls. Im still totally in love with the Einstein doll too.

Thanks to Noreen for her inspiration!!

I have enjoyed making dolls from you book and would love to own an original. The first one I made was at an outdoor Bluegrass Festival my niece and I went to. We knew we needed something to do while listening and took needlework. We had a great time and the crochet doll I made is one of my favorite.

I really like that you spun your own yarn! I just bought a wheel for my DIL for Cristmas and can hardly wait to give it to her!

I was just looking at her–I know who she is!

She’s Paquerette, the Falling Leaf Faery.

It’s her job to choose the shades and colors and paint all the autumn leaves.

She also teaches them the whirling dance they do with the wind on the way to the ground :)

She is so very lovely, Noreen! I admire your work so much, you must put a lot of love into it,and it really shows.

Your little faery has the same spirit to me as a doll I just finished named Samilova, the Fall Fantasy Fae. They have the same look in their eyes! Isn’t it wonderful to create these little beings out of bits of yarn and cloth and clay? I love it!

Thank you so much for this contest, I would very much love to have her join all the faeries in my studio…we would make a nice home for her and she would be loved :)

    warm wishes and happy creating,
    Jennifer

If I win, this doll might have to go to Ohio. My sister-in-law’s mother is going through chemo. She could certainly use this lovely little angel.

    Noreen,

I love all your dolls! Hope this one heads to Arizona. I will keep her cool indoors with my other dollies or she can jump into my spa for a relaxing time. LOL

    Noreen,
You are so creative and talented! I like the way that you are keeping the joy of dollmaking alive and in unusual ways with the spool knitting, weaving, crocheting, watercolor painting, etc. I have your book on making Soul Mate Dolls…now I just need to find some time to make one!
